As a Doctor of Optometry that travels the country and raced as a US Professional Triathlete for the last 14 seasons, I love sharing experiences and making memories. I hope to share my journey to inspire and motivate others.

Early Life

I grew up in Rochester, NY where I always enjoyed the outdoors. I started my athletic pursuits as a baseball player but was guided toward running as a way to get in shape for baseball (as he wore ‘husky’ jeans as a kid). As I started running, I realized how much I enjoyed pushing my physical and mental limits. In high school I was a standout Cross Country and Track athlete that brought me to Lehigh University where I competed at the NCAA Division 1 level for 4 years while earning my Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral Neuroscience. I then went on to graduate from The Ohio State University College of Optometry in 2011. It was at Ohio State that my journey to be a triathlete really started.

Start of the Triathlon Journey

In the summer of 2006, while training for the college XC season, I was encouraged to race my first triathlon. I ended up signing up for the Musselman Triathlon sprint. After finishing 2nd place overall, I knew this was just the beginning for me in the sport of triathlon.

After starting at OSU for my doctorate work, I still had a season of NCAA eligibility where I joined the Varsity track team. After that eligibility ran out, I ended up joining the Triathlon Club at OSU and that really started my triathlon journey.
